Luminous Glass is a one-of-a-kind studio nestled in the mountains of Rabun Gap, Georgia. Every piece — whether a sun-catching window panel, a framed mosaic, or a custom commission — is built by hand using traditional stained glass techniques. No two pieces are ever the same.

Meet the Artist

Dennis

Dennis has worked in all aspects of Stained Glass for many years. He went on a hiatus to pursue his safe cracking career, and has returned to pursue his love of Stained Glass.

Dennis prefers using lead came but will admit foil has its place. He will teach both methods — but thinks foil is for beginners. Did we mention Dennis is self-taught?

Dennis also enjoys doing repair work because it has a unique challenge. He will try anything once, so if you have a glass project, he is the person to call.

Work Examples

Fused glass flower bouquet in yellow vase

Vase of flowers — This work has both the tack and slumping techniques. The vase has been slumped over a mold to get the shape and the flowers have been tacked to the base glass.

Tree of Color — This tack fusing tree has a textured feel on the surface. All edges of the piece are well rounded and fully attached to the base glass.

Peacock — The foil method involves wrapping copper foil around glass piece edges and soldering along it, making it ideal for smaller glass pieces in projects of any size.

Geometric Study — The lead method uses preformed lead came to hold glass pieces together, soldered at the joints and cemented to waterproof and strengthen the panel.
